Wedges are described by three numbers that decide how they behave around the green. Loft is the angle of the face, controlling how high the ball flies — a higher loft (like 60°) sends the ball up steeply for short shots over bunkers, while a lower loft (like 46°) flies flatter for longer approach shots. Bounce is how much the sole curves upward, stopping the leading edge from digging into soft turf or sand. Grind refers to how much material is shaved off different parts of the sole — different grinds (marked S, M, D, K, F or T) suit different turf conditions and swing styles.
