Rory McIlroy ended his 2024 DP World Tour season with a victory at the DP World Tour Championship, securing his sixth Race to Dubai title.

McIlroy entered the week with a strong lead in the rankings, and only Thriston Lawrence had a chance to overtake him. Lawrence needed a win for McIlroy to finish outside the top 12, but he couldn’t mount a challenge, finishing at one-under-par.

Sharing the lead after the first and third rounds, McIlroy pulled ahead early on Sunday with four straight birdies. Bogeys at the ninth and 13th allowed Rasmus Højgaard to tie him at 13-under-par, but McIlroy regained control with birdies on the 16th and 18th to finish at 15-under-par, two shots clear of the field.

“It means a lot,” McIlroy said.

“I’ve been through a lot this year, professionally and personally. I’ve had close calls, but to finally get over the line is really special.”
"It's been a long year," added the Irishman who completed his 27th tournament for the season.

"Looking forward to a little bit of downtime. I have a lot of friends and my family here in Dubai so I'm sure we'll have a good night tonight."

Højgaard applied pressure throughout the final round but couldn’t match McIlroy’s late birdies. Antoine Rozner, who shared the third-round lead, dropped out of contention with a double bogey on the ninth. However, a closing birdie secured Rozner a PGA TOUR card for next season as he tied for third with Adam Scott and Shane Lowry at 11-under-par.

Tyrell Hatton finished solo sixth at 10-under-par, while Robert MacIntyre, Joaquin Niemann, and others tied for 10th at nine-under-par.
