Ervin Chang regains Asian Tour card for 2025

on

Malaysia’s Ervin Chang has secured his spot for a second year on the Asian Tour after successfully navigating the Final Stage of the Asian Tour Qualifying School.

The 26-year-old finished tied for 23rd on 11-under-par after rounds of 67, 69, 69, 68, and 71 at Thailand’s Lake View Resort and Golf Club. This accomplishment ensures his return to compete with the region’s best in the 2025 season.

Chang’s journey back to the Asian Tour wasn’t without challenges. In his debut season in 2024, he placed 103rd on the Order of Merit, which required a return to Q-School to regain his playing rights. Reflecting on his achievement, Chang shared on his socials: “Glory to God! Finishing off my 2024 season with a good one by making it back to the Asian Tour through the Q-school this week. Really happy with the progress I have made with my game these past few weeks!"

The other Malaysian hopefuls at Q-School fell short of earning their tour cards. Amir Nazrin Jailani (73-70-72-67) and Shahriffuddin Ariffin (68-74-75-70) missed out on the fifth and final round after the 72-hole cut. Meanwhile, Paul San (74-73) and Galven Green (78-81) did not advance past the first 36 holes.

The grueling five-round Final Stage saw 35 players secure their places on the Asian Tour for 2025, with Japan’s Takumi Murakami emerging as the standout performer. Murakami, who led heading into the final day, carded a closing round of 70 to finish on 20-under-par, edging out Korea’s Kyungnam Kang by one stroke.

The upcoming 2025 Asian Tour promises an exciting calendar with 22 events confirmed so far, offering over US$30 million in prize money and additional tournaments expected to be announced.

The new season tees off with the Philippine Open at Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club from January 23-26, followed by the International Series India presented by DLF. The latter event will feature American star Bryson DeChambeau, adding to the anticipation surrounding the tour’s growth.
